Last ball run out sees Furrows League clash end in tie
There was another exciting finish in the Furrows East Shropshire Mid-Week League when the Division One clash between Forton and Priorslee ended as a tie.
Batting first, Priorslee were bowled out for 138 in the 20th over with Abhay Srivastava hitting 33 and Rajeev Nair 32.
Charlie Sykes led the way for the Forton attack claiming 4-23 with James DuBoulay, Stan Askin and Ben Yates-Ward all picking up two wickets apiece.
Matt Sayers dominated the Forton reply with an unbeaten 50 before retiring as the hosts entered the final over just needing on 136-7 needing three runs to win.
Forton scrambled a single and a leg bye, but then suffered a run out off the final ball as the batters attempted a single with the scores level trying to win the game.
Church Eaton maintained their fine start to the season when they inflicted defeat on defending champions St Georges.
Batting first, Douglas Hughes hit 50 before retiring, Harvey Sidwell was unbeaten on 49 and Jonathan Arnold chipped in with 22 at the top of the order as the Knights finished their 20 overs on 146-4. Muhammad Raheel Khattak claimed 2-11 from his three overs.
Open Nazir Mooman top scored for the hosts in their reply with 26, but they were bowled out for 114 with Richard West, Arnold, Will Ross and Jordan Talbot all claiming two wickets apiece.
They also claimed victory in a game played the previous week after their original clash with Harpers was postponed due to the weather.
Harpers were the visitors so batted first and made 135-8 with Ravi Duddala leading the way with 28 and Richard West claiming 2-25.
Michale Holdcroft made 43 off just 17 balls in the reply at the top of the order and fellow opener Sidwell hit 26 before Douglas Hughes (39) and Matthew Burslem (24) led the side to an eight wicket win with nearly three overs to spare.
Codsall continue to lead the way in Division Two after beating Albrighton.
Batting first, the visitors finished their 20 overs on 120-7 with Sam Wood hitting 22 and Akhtiyar Khosal Khail unbeaten on 25. Alex Riley-Craig claimed 3-9 from his three overs.
Codsall eased to victory in the 14th over with Karandeep Singh Aulakh making an unbeaten 51 at the top of the order and Liam Raby 36 off 30 balls.
Broseley were the top scorers of the week when they enjoyed their trip to Lilleshall, finishing their innings on 162-6.
Alfie Oakes led the way with 50 before he retired, Gavin Daniel hit 22 and Lawrie Griffiths was unbeaten on 39. Mark Binfield and David Bristow claimed two wickets apiece for the Monument Men.
Lilleshall were then restricted to 129-7 in reply with Richard Butler hitting 20 and Kenny Fudge 26, Dan Handley taking 2-30 as the visitors used nine different bowlers.
Newport cruised to victory when they hosted Wheaton Aston.
Batting first, the visitors made 140-7 with Adam Lawley leading the way with an unbeaten 53 before retiring, while Matt Tunney chipped in with 20. Ollie Tellwright claimed 2-12.
In the reply, Oliver Wilson hit 52 off just 24 balls before retiring and then Kyle Hodgson steered the Fishes to victory with an unbeaten 46 as they claimed the win in the 17th over. Benjamin Crawford hit 27.
The previous week had seen one game played as Broseley hosted Newport in a game postponed from the previous week due to the weather – and it was a close affair.
Batting first, Newport made 122-6 with Iain Anderson the main contributor with an unbeaten 45. Dan Handley took a miserly 2-9 from his four overs while Lawrie Griffiths claimed 2-15.
The hosts eased to the win with seven balls to spare. Thomas Holcroft made 33 in the middle of the innings before Chris Lloyd (14 not out) and Griffiths (11 not) formed a crucial ninth wicket partnership for Broseley.
Hana Khan claimed 3-26, Eesa Rafiq 3-22 and Ryan Jones 2-26 for the visitors.
