Free Sports Leadership sessions with Make Sport Work

A new initiative has been launched in Shropshire to help youngsters develop their sports leadership skills.

It is part of the Make Sport Work Programme which involves Cricket Shropshire, Brightstar Boxing and Embrace PE, with support from the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation.

It is FREE and open to 16-20-year-olds and is delivered by qualified sports coaches over two afternoons.

It aims to:

  • Support leadership skills and give participants the first stage of their ASDAN Sports Leadership qualification.
  • Boost their confidence and help tackle any anxiety participants may have
  • Give them insight into sports coaching and mentoring
  • Boost their positive habits and wellbeing
  • Make them stand out from the crowd if they are looking for a job

The course will run on a Mondays and Tuesdays at Shrewsbury Town FC’s site from 1.30-4.30pm and will include team sport, boxing, cricket as well as mentoring and coaching to make participants feel ready for their next step.

That could be looking for a job, starting college or beginning an apprenticeship.

Dates available are August 12, 19, 26 and September 2.
